analysis and reporting

novel software is divided into two types: system software to run the novel hardware and analysis software to scientifically analyze the measured data. All novel systems, as well as the scientific analysis software, are embedded into the novel database pro and database essential packages. By running the data collection software through the database all data is returned to the database for easy organization, analysis, and reporting.

    This program calculates 16 different parameters in many masks in one data file. All results are available in ASCII format. The following information is evaluated and displayed in different windows: pressure picture with masks; list of masks; for all masks and the total object.

  • peak pressure, mean pressure
  • force time integrals with/without threshold

    This program can be used for a statistical analysis of many data files. Evaluated are mean values and standard deviations of the following parameters in all masks and the whole object:

  • peak pressure, maximum mean pressure

  • contact times (in ms and % ROP)
  • begin of contact (%ROP), end of contact (%ROP)
  • pressure-time integrals with/without threshold
  • force-time threshold with/without threshold
  • instant of peak pressure/maximum force (%ROP)
  • time processes of force, area, peak pressure and mean pressure
  • pressure pictures of data files with masks ASCII output of all evaluated parameters is available. (This program requires multimask evaluation; included in the price of groupmask evaluation are the programs group editor and split record files)

    This program allows the selection of regions of interest on the foot by either using predefined masks or drawing them manually. For use with emed files only.

    This program allows the pressure picture to be separated into different regions by either arbitarily drawing masks to identify regions on the pressure picture or by horizontal and vertical lines that are percentages of foot length and width.

    In this program, a group file containing many data files can be created. One or many mask files may be associated with data files selected. Body weight can be entered for normalization in later analysis. Files created with group editor are loaded into groupmask evaluation for analysis.

    Converts pressure and force data of the measurements to ASCII format. (Also the coordinates of the COP line can be exported in this way.) This program is only available in connection with emed-sf and ofoot 1-1.

    Allows the clinician and researcher to select from a list of parameters, which should be analyzed in all pressure data. The evaluation of the selected parameters will then be carried out automatically and displayed in an html file. The html file can then be shared via intra-or internet.

    This program calculates the ratio of the difference between the loaded areas of the lateral and medial regions to the total loaded area of the foot. This program only applies to emed data files.
    lateral-medial force indices x                 x    
    This program calculates the difference between the lateral and medial forces, force-time integrals, and the ratio of the forces on the lateral and medial regions of the foot.

    Displays the pressure picture with COP, graphs for velocity and acceleration of the COP, and force vs. time. In a results window, the mean and maximum values of velocity and acceleration are presented. ASCII output of the evaluated parameters is available

  • axis x                 x    
    The user can utilize a predefined axis or draw one manually across the pressure picture. The program calculates the area that is enclosed between this axis and the COP curve to the right and left side of the axis. This provides a quantitative measure of identifying the location of the COP line. For example, can be used to determine whether the COP line has become more lateral or medial after treatment. The calculated parameter is available in ASCII format.

    This program calculates several geometric parameters of the foot from the pressure distribution measurement. emed files only.
    force and area derivatives   x               x x  
    Calculates the time derivatives of force and area. The pressure picture and 4 diagrams (time dependence of force, area, derivatives) are displayed. ASCII output provided.
    cycles   x               x x  
    Provides the ability to split pliance files of a cyclic nature into separate .mat files for averaging across each of the cycles. Files can then be used in the masking and projects software programs and automatically averaged across the defined cycle.
    differences   x               x x  
    The numerical difference between the pressure values in two data files is calculated. The pressure pictures of two files are displayed along with the difference picture and can be viewed in 2D, 3D or isobar format.
    value master   x               x x  
    Edits individual pressure values of sensors to set markers. It is also possible to change the pressure ranges of the color palette. The corrected files are saved separately.

    Data between two selected frames can be deleted. Additionally mask filters can be set so that extraneous data is ignored. This can be useful when working with children, as it is often difficult to obtain one clean foot-strike on the platform. The corrected files can be saved separately and used for further analysis.

Maximum pressure picture (MPP), mean value picture (MVP, 3 different calculations), display of the gait line and the pressure values for each sensor are also presented.

    Special printing program with various options such as 1-1 original size. Serial printing of arbitrary sequences of frames, MPP or MVP for all opened data files. Pressure values of the sensors, the gait line or the maximum pressure curve can be printed.

    Synchronizes emed, pedar, pliance, video, and ASCII (e.g. EMG) files. All dynamic processes in opened novel-programs are played simultaneously.

    In this program isobars are used to display the pressure pictures. (Isobars are curves, which connect points of identical pressure values. They are used to separate regions of different colors).
    novel magic mountain     x x           x x  
    Offers a color 3D image of the dynamic pressure distribution. The view can be rotated through 360 degrees and tilted through 90 degrees with two axes. This program is particularly useful for scientific presentations and patient motivation and education.
    report basic                        
    A predefined report that can be used with novel projects or reporting options. This report gives patent information, averaged 2-D and 3-D presure pressure pictures with COP, and 2-D pressure picture with sensor-grid overlay.
    report HMF                        
    A predefined report that can be used with novel projects or reporting options. This report gives patient information, averaged 2-D and 3-D pressure pictures with COP, and 2-D pressure picture with 3 region mask (hind-, mid-, fore-region) overlay. This report also displays bar graphs for total foot and each masked region for peak pressure, maximum force, contact area, and contact time. emed data only.
    report HMFT                        
    A predefined report that can be used with novel projects or reporting options. This report gives patient information, averaged 2-D and 3-D pressure pictures with COP, averaged 2-D and 3-D pressure pictures with COP, and 2-D pressure picture with four region mask (hind-, mid-, and fore-foot and toes) overlay. This report also displays bar graphs for total foot and each masked region for peak pressure, maximum force, contact area, and contact time. emed data only.

    A predefined report that can be used with novel projects or reporting options. This report gives patient information, averaged 2-D and 3-D pressure pictures with COP, 2-D pressure picture with 11 region mask overlay, a pressure-time integral pressure picture, and a video (.AVI) of the rollover process (available only when an electronic report generated).     Comparative demo-dataset             x          
    Direct comparison of an emed dataset with a dataset from 52 healthy subjects. Results of the comparison may be shown in each report and generates additional user comparative datasets.
