novel offers accurate, reliable pressure and mobile force measurement systems.

The correct system for your application

Pressure vs Force

Pressure measurement systems provide local loads between surfaces.

The sensor resolution should be based on the contact area expected of the local loads.

A continuous matrix will allow the user to sum across all sensors to also obtain the force.

Other parameters such as center of pressure can be collected from a pressure measurement system. In contrast, our mobile force measurement tools provide force in up to three areas within one sensor.

System Mobility

Our pedar® and pliance® systems are wireless via Bluetooth up to 100 meters to our PC-based software solutions. Wireless collection allows the user to obtain measurements in a free-moving environment without tethered constraints.

On-board memory storage allows the user to obtain measurements in the field without concern about losing data.

Real-time feedback is possible with the pedar® and pliance® system.

Our mobile solutions offer a completely portable solution for measurement directly to an iOS or Android mobile device over short or long periods of time.

Real-time feedback via auditory, visual and vibratory cues is possible.

Immediate analysis of loading parameters can be performed.

Our emed® systems are lightweight and do not require mounting to a floor. They are offered with an optional lightweight foam walkway allowing the systems to be setup and removed quickly and easily.

This provides users with the ability to use the system in multiple locations with an easy, quick setup.

System Applications

Our systems can be used for many applications and the systems, in many cases, overlap within fields.

Pressure Measurement Systems

foot standing
              on pressure sensor mat
emed®

barefoot pressure distribution measurement

Determine the functional characterization of the foot without the influence of footwear in applications such as orthopaedics, diabetic foot, orthotic development, etc.

runner using a measurement insole
pedar®

in-shoe pressure distribution measurement

Determine the influence of footwear on the foot for applications such as diabetes, orthotic evaluation, footwear development, sports movement analysis, ergonomics, etc.

woman wearing prosthetic leg with pliance measurment device
pliance®

pressure measurement between varying surfaces

Determine the load distribution between any soft or hard surface for applications such as socket-residual limb interface, seating, bed mapping, ergonomics hand tool assessment, etc.

hand showing pressure map
manugraphy®

pressure measurement diagnostic system on a cylinder

Determine the force of each single finger and even the phalanges. The individual force contributed by each part of the hand – the finger, phalanx, or palm – is measured separately.

analysis software
scientific software

data collection and scientific analysis software

The novel data collection and scientific analysis software is designed to assist in collection and analysis of novel pressure systems.

Mobile Force Measurement Systems

shoe insole being measured by mobile device
loadsol®

mobile in-shoe force measurement

Collect in-shoe force data within a mobile environment for applications such as gait retraining, force feedback post-surgical (i.e. weight-bearing restrictions), running analysis, on the field and “in the real world” force assessment, etc.

hand on crutch being measured by mobile device
loadpad®

mobile force measurement between varying surfaces

Collect force data within a mobile environment on any hard or software surface for applications such as manual therapy training, garment assessment, crutch or other offloading tool assessment, etc.

finger pushing a bitton with measurement showing on mobile device
buttonsens®

mobile force measurement on small, soft surfaces

Measures the force on fingers during activities performed in ergonomics, manufacturing quality control, and biomechanics. It is attached to the finger or thumb and detects the normal force acting on the sensor.

flat sensor able to slip between textiles
texsens®

mobile measurement for low force under garments and textiles

Developed by novel for mobile load measurement in the textile and garment industry. The texsens® utilizes one fully calibrated, capacitive sensor which is connected to the small and lightweight loadpad® electronics

At novel, our priority is to enable the highest quality in measurement and we strongly believe in art in science.
